Welcome to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School’s website! It is our genuine hope that as you click on the various tabs you will develop a strong sense of our school community – our students and families, faculty and staff, and valued visitors as well.
Our teachers are well-versed in pedagogical practices, combining state standards in curriculum with our highly-valued Guidelines for Catechesis. We strive to serve our students and families academically, socially, and spiritually. The Congregation of Catholic Education produced a document, The Religious Dimension of Education in a Catholic School, which states:
“The religious dimension of the school climate is expressed through the celebration of Christian values in Word and Sacrament, in individual behaviour, in friendly and harmonious interpersonal relationships, and in a ready availability.”
At OLMC, we provide our students with an abundance of service opportunities, as well as the time and space to plan and prepare liturgies and prayer services. Our students are held accountable for their behavior as well as for their own academic success. We foster our Catholic identity through an Archdiocesan-wide Values Infusion program, where each month we focus on one aspect of Christian life – loyalty, obedience, friendship, etc. Our students learn to share their faith through daily Religion classes, based on the Guidelines for Catechesis. We incorporate prayer, Sacred Scripture, sharing of experiences, song, and art in our Religion program, and we are always open to those special “teachable moments” that provide faith-sharing opportunities across the curriculum. We strongly believe that this key component of faith in action is what places our Catholic school in a class by itself among the many excellent schools in our area.
So please take some time to browse through this website. Peruse our photographs, read about our activities, and then please make an appointment to come visit us. We look forward to meeting you!
